Early Intervention for Developmental and Behavioral Impairments (EIDBI)

What is the EIDBI?

The Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention (EIDBI) program was created to meet the needs of children diagnosed with Autism and Related Disorders who require specialized programming to help them function optimally in their family, school, and community settings. The program is designed to help youngsters aged two to twenty-one.

The EIDBI Program offers child development services in language and communication skills, socialization and interaction, and relationship skills. The goal is to reduce repetitious, hyper-focused, and potentially harmful behaviors that interfere with their capacity to interact in the community.

EIDBI services encompass a range of support aimed at fostering mental health, special education, language, and behavioral therapy for children. Our team conducts thorough assessments to gain insight into each child’s needs, crafting tailored plans to achieve specific goals within realistic timelines. Our objective is to empower children to function at their highest capacity within their family, school, and community environments.

These services are delivered flexibly to suit each child’s circumstances. Some may receive support primarily at home, while others may benefit from a therapeutic environment in a Minnesota therapy center. Community-based sessions are also available as needed.

Treatment goals are collaboratively developed with input from various stakeholders, including parents, teachers, medical professionals, and counselors. This multidimensional approach ensures a comprehensive understanding of the child’s needs and facilitates their full participation in their environment.

Programming hours vary depending on the child’s needs, with some requiring fewer than 10 hours per week and others needing over 20 hours. This tailored approach addresses specific behavioral challenges or equips children with compensatory skills to navigate complex environments. Services can be provided at home, in a clinic, at school, or even at the child’s place of employment, optimizing accessibility and effectiveness.
